Newcastle United Team Guide FM19

Football Manager 2019 Newcastle United Team Guide

In this Football Manager 2019 Newcastle united team guide, we will explore the club in close detail to provide you with information to help you at the start your FM19 Newcastle save.

This will be Newcastle United’s second season in the premier league after being promoted from the championship in 2016/17.

Rafael Benítez was able to achieve a 10th place finish with Newcastle in their first season back in the premier league, which was a great result considering most people thought they would be in a relegation battle.

Newcastle United has an excellent fan base who want to see the club successful, however, the club has been looking over their shoulder more often than up the table in recent years, due to a lack of investment in the squad and a lack of direction from the board.

Newcastle United Expectations FM19

The Newcastle United board will want to have another safe mid-table finish in the Premier League this season.

If you can put a run of a few good results together, this should be a fairly achievable goal.

Although the fans would love a more ambitious club, The Newcastle board are unlikely to increase their demands, as they understand the reality that the club doesn’t have a huge amount of money to spend.

Transfer Budget: £3M
Wage Budget: £1.37M (£150K remaining)

Newcastle United are very careful with their finances and won’t be a club which gives you massive transfer budgets to spend on players.

Having already spent £38.5M on transfers this season, Newcastle only has an additional £3M transfer budget available.

So you will definitely need to sell players to raise funds if you want to make any transfers in the first season.

Miguel Almirón – (CA 147 – PA 155)

Miguel Almiron FM19

Miguel Almiron is a new signing for Newcastle, having signed for £16M from Atlanta United in 2018/19.

Almiron is an attacking midfielder, who can also play in a central midfield position, further forward in a striker position or out wide on the left.

Almiron is very good on the ball, he’s a fast player with great Dribbling, Agility and Pace.

He should be the most creative player in the team and will create a lot of chances for your forwards.

Best Attributes – Acceleration (18), Pace (17), First Touch (17), Dribbling (16), Technique (16).

Jamaal Lascelles – (CA 140 – PA 152)

Jamaal Lascelles FM19

Jamaal Lascelles has been at the club for a few seasons now following his move from Nottingham Forrest for £5M.

Lascelles is a key member of the squad, he’s the team captain with excellent leadership skill and the best central defender in the Newcastle first-team.

Lascelles is a commanding 6’3″ player with excellent defending attributes and at 24-years-old still has time to improve.

Best Attributes – Leadership (17), Heading (16), Tackling (16), Natural Fitness (16), Strength (16).

Fabian Schär – (CA 137 – PA 143)

Fabian Schar FM19

Fabian Schar is another new signing for Newcastle after joining the club from Deportivo de La Coruña for £3M.

Schar already has quite a reputation before joining Newcastle for being a strong and commanding centre-back.

He has good defensive attributes which make his a very good centre-back, although he is a little slow with only 9 Acceleration and 12 Pace.

He should be able to spark up a very good partnership with Lascelles and become one of the best centre-back pairings in the league.

Best Attributes – Composure (17), Heading (16), Penalty Taking (16), Anticipation (16), Teamwork (16).

Sean Longstaff – (CA 116 – PA 150/180)

Sean Longstaff FM19

Sean Longstaff is a young player who has come through the Newcastle United youth teams.

Longstaff is a box to box midfielder, but can also play in an attacking midfielder role.

He is already good enough to play a role in the first-team for Newcastle and at only 20-years-old he has plenty of time to improve and become a key player in midfield.

Best Attributes – Long Shots (15), Teamwork (15), Work Rate (15), Stamina (15), Passing (14).

Rolando Aarons – (CA 120 – PA 139)

Rolando Aarons FM19

Rolando Aarons is on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the first season, however, he will be available from the second season.

Aarons is a winger who can play on either side, he’s a fast agile player who likes to run with the ball.

Although he is not currently good enough for the first-team, he may come back from his season-long loan and have improved enough to feature.

Still, at 22-years-old, he has the potential to improve enough to be a regular in the team.

Best Attributes – Acceleration (17), Flair (16), Pace (16), Agility (15), Off The Ball (15).

Isaac Hayden – (CA 120 – PA 148)

Isaac Hayden FM19

Isaac Hayden is now in his third season at Newcastle United, He’s been a squad player for Newcastle in the first two seasons and will be expected to play even more games this season.

His best position is defensive midfield, however, he is capable of playing in a central midfield role or central defender.

Hayden is 23-years-old and has a potential ability of 148, which should make him a very good player within a couple of seasons.

Best Attributes – Natural Fitness (16), Determination (15), Teamwork (15), Work Rate (15), Stamina (15).

Mohamed Diamé – (CA 134 – PA 135)

Mohamed Diame FM19

Although Mohamed Diame has been a fairly influential player at the club for the past couple of years, the 31-year-old midfielder will slowly become surplus to requirements and so a sensible decision would be to sell him now while he is still worth a good amount of money.

There is plenty of cover in his position, so signing in a like for like replacement wouldn’t necessarily be required immediately.

Value: £10.75M
Wage: £45K p/w
Expected transfer value: £10M+

Jack Colback – (CA 122 – PA 130)

Jack Colback FM19

Jack Colback is currently on loan to Nottingham Forrest for the season when his contract is due to expire.

The 28-year-old midfielder isn’t good enough to get into the current Newcastle team and his age is against him.

Although you won’t be making any money, he is a player you should release when his contract expires which will at least save £35K p/w on wages.

Value: £4.8M
Wage: £35K p/w
Expected transfer value: Release on Free

Dwight Gayle – (CA 129 – PA 136)

Dwight Gayle FM19

Dwight Gayle is another player who is currently out on loan this season so you won’t be able to sell him until the second season.

Gayle is a good player, however, he is not at the level which Newcastle require and therefore should be a player you look to move on.

Also being worth £13.25M, he should be able to fetch a good transfer amount, which will be able to go towards signing new players.

Value: £13.25M
Wage: £30K p/w
Expected transfer value: £10M+

Newcastle has a balanced first team as their starting players all have a similar ability, so there isn’t one main position to focus on improving.

however, two positions which would be worth investing in first would be central midfield and striker.

With their low budget, you will need to buy good valued players, preferably younger players who will improve in ability and increase in value.

Douglas Luiz – (CA 133 – PA 152)

Douglas Luiz FM19

Douglas Luiz is a young defensive midfielder, who currently plays for Girona on loan from Manchester City, however, he is available to sign if you can find the £25M that it would cost to buy him.

Luiz would already be an improvement on the current midfielders at Newcastle, with a potential ability of 152 and at only 20-years-old, he will be able to lock down the midfield position for the next 10 years.

Best Attributes – Marking (15), Long Shots (14), Tackling (14), Acceleration (14), Teamwork (14).

Value: £14M
Wage: £40K p/w
Expected Transfer fee: £25M
Expected Wage: £50K p/w

Nicolás Domínguez – (CA 131 – PA 170*)

Nicolas Dominguez FM19

Nicolas Dominguez is an Argentinian wonderkid who currently plays for Velez, he is already a good enough player to feature in the Newcastle team and with a potential ability of 170, he could become one of the best midfielders in the league.

What makes Dominguez such an appealing signing, however, is the fact he can be signed for around £5M, which is an absolute bargain for a player of his potential.

The 19-year-old wonderkid has a growing reputation in the game and is starting to show why he has the potential to be one of the best defenders in the world.

Best Attributes – First Touch (15), Passing (15), Technique (15), Stamina (15), Natural Fitness (15).

Value: £1M
Wage: £4.1K p/w
Expected Transfer Cost: £5M
Expected Wage: £20K p/w

Kasper Dolberg – (CA 137 – PA 170*)

Kasper Dolberg FM19

Newcastle has always had a strong striker in their team and that’s exactly what they would get if they signed Kasper Dolberg.

The Danish Striker who currently plays for Ajax is 6’2″ tall and would be a perfect fit in the Newcastle team.

He would also be available for around £20M, which is a good price for a player with a potential ability of 170.

Best Attributes – Technique (16), Determination (15), Acceleration (15), Agility (15), Natural Fitness (15).

Value: £8.75M
Wage: £10.75K p/w
