In the past few seasons, Everton has been a trying to make a serious attempt at gaining Euro Cup qualification.
Outside of the top 6 teams, Everton is one of a number of teams which are trying to establish themselves as the best team of the rest.
Over the past season or two Everton have begun to invest a significant amount of money in the transfer market.
Thanks to this investment, they have turned an ageing team into a team with a nice blend of youngsters and experience.
Everton’s board require you to finish in the top half of the Premier League, which with the amount they have spent on players and the quality already in the team, should be the least this team can achieve.
Ultimately Everton wants to be back in European competitions, so sooner or later their expectations will increase.
Transfer & Wage budget
Transfer budget: £3.5M
Wage Budget: £2.26M p/w (£41K p/w remaining)
Everton has already spent £85M on transfers this season, so similar to the other clubs they don’t have much transfer budget left.
The new signings of Richarlison, Bernard, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne, bring the club a great amount of quality and experience.
Everton has a squad with a strong first 11, however, the rest of the squad is fairly lacking, therefore you will need to rely on your senior players to get the job done.
The following senior players should be the players which you would need to make the most of in order for Everton to be successful.
Jordan Pickford – (CA 146 – PA 168)
The England international has been in great form since his move from Sunderland in 2017/18 season.
Following an excellent world cup with England, Pickford is showing more than ever he’s a world-class goalkeeper.
Pickford is a very good all-round goalkeeper without any real weaknesses, He’s also fantastic at playing the ball out from the back with 18 Kicking and 14 Passing.
Best Attributes – Kicking (18), Communication (16), Reflexes (16), Aggression (16), One on Ones (15).
Idrissa Gueye (CA 147 – PA 152)
Idrissa Gueye is a fantastic Ball Winning Midfielder, who is able to break up the oppositions play very effectively.
He’s a very important player in the team and is in the prime years of his career.
Other teams will be interested in signing Gueye and for big money, however, you should think carefully about selling him as he would be a very difficult player to replace.
Best Attributes – Tackling (18), Work Rate (18), Anticipation (17), Teamwork (17), Bravery (16).
Gylfi Sigurðsson (CA 146 – PA 152)
Sigurdsson has been one of Everton’s most important players since his arrival from Swansea in 2017/18.
He is the most creative player in the Everton team and will be the player most likely to make the killer pass to open up the defence.
Best Attributes – Free Kick Taking (18), Penalty Taking (18), Natural Fitness (18), Stamina (17), Long Shots (16).
Richarlison (CA 146 – PA 170)
Richarlison is a new signing at Everton following his arrival from Watford for £40M, following an excellent first season in the Premier League
He is a typical Brazilian, who has plenty of flair and on-the-ball ability.
He is already an important player in the Everton team and at only 21-years-old Richarlison has plenty of time to improve and become a leading Premier League player.
Best Attributes – Dribbling (15), Work Rate (15), Pace (15), Stamina (15), Strength (15).
Tom Davies (CA 131 – PA 145)
Tom Davies has come through the youth system at Everton and has been a squad player since the 2016/17 season.
Davies is a hard-working central midfielder, who can play in a defensive or attacking role.
At 20-years-old there is still a lot of time for improvement, as he works towards becoming a first-team regular within a season or two.
Best Attributes – Work Rate (17), Bravery (15), Teamwork (15), Stamina (15), Passing (14).
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (CA 130 – PA 149)
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an exciting young player who isn’t far from first-team football.
He enjoyed a lot of games for Everton in 2017/18, however, may find game time harder to come by since the arrival of Cenk Tosun.
Nonetheless, Calvert-Lewin is good enough to be a squad player at Everton already and at only 21-years-old, he will improve each season.
Players to consider selling
Leighton Baines (CA 134 – PA 160)
Leighton Baines has been the first choice Everton left-back for over 10 years, however, Baines is now 33-years-old and is no longer the best right back in the team.
with the signing of Lucas Digne, Baines is no longer going to be getting 30 plus games per season and therefore should be someone to consider selling in order to bring in a younger understudy to Digne.
Wage: £65K p/w
Expected transfer value: £3M
Phil Jagielka (CA 131 – PA 157)
Phil Jagielka is another player who has been at Everton for over 10 years, at 35-years-old, he is definitely a player who is on the decline.
He should be a player to consider selling, however, Everton currently on has four senior central defenders at the club including Jagielka, so you should maybe first sign a new central defender, or wait for Mason Holgate to return.
Wage: £50K p/w
Expected transfer value: £1M
Mo Besic (CA 128 – PA 142)
Mo Besic is currently out on loan to Middlesbrough for the season, so you won’t be able to sell him straightaway.
Besic is not a particularly bad player and at 25-years-old, he still has time on his side.
However, Everton has an abundance of quality players in central midfield and therefore, Besic will simply never get a chance to play.
Wage: £30K p/w
Expected transfer value: £10M
Players to consider signing
Everton doesn’t have a great amount of quality depth outside of the first team, two positions which you could bring in some quality depth is left-back and centre-back.
Leighton Baines is 33-years-old and whether you decide to sell him or not won’t change the fact he won’t be in the Everton squad for too much longer, therefore signing a left-back to compete with Lucas Digne should be one of your priorities.
A couple of players you should consider are;
Júnior Firpo (CA 132 – PA 164)
Junior Firpo is an exciting young Spanish full-back who currently plays for Real Betis.
Firpo is only 21-years-old and would be a perfect signing to compete with Digne for the first team.
Although he’s only worth £1.9M, Real Betis are unlikely to want to sell him cheap, you may need to declare an interest and attempt to cause a rift in order to get him for a realistic price.
Wage: £12.75K p/w
Expected Transfer fee: £25M plus additional clauses.
Expected Wage: £45K p/w plus bonuses and clauses.
Rogério (CA 130 – PA 153)
Rogerio is another young centre-back who would make a good addition to the Everton team.
He’s currently on loan to Sussuolo from Juventus, however, you should be able to sign him immediately.
Best Attributes – Flair (16), Off The Ball (15), Acceleration (15), Agility (15), Stamina (15).
Wage: £13K p/w
Expected Transfer fee: £10M plus additional clauses.
Expected Wage: £20K p/w plus bonuses and clauses.
Everton is also in need for a new centre-back as Jagielka will be 36-years-old next season if he’s still playing and Kurt Zouma will return to Chelsea after his loan.
here are a couple of central defenders worth taking a look at;
Mouctar Diakhaby (CA 138 – PA 157)
Diakhaby is a powerful centre-back who currently plays for Valencia.
He’s a tall and strong central defender, with good Heading and Jumping reach which make him very good in the air, he’s also able to play the ball out comfortably.
Best Attributes – Jumping Reach (17), Heading (16), Strength (16), Bravery (15), Determination (15).
Wage: £13.75K p/w
Expected Transfer fee: £15M plus additional clauses.
Expected Wage: £40K p/w plus bonuses and clauses.
Diego Llorente (CA 145 – PA 153)
Diego Llorente is an excellent young central defender, who would be an improvement on all other centre-backs currently in the Everton team.
The Spanish defender is currently playing for Real Sociedad in La Liga and would be interested in a move to Everton.
Lorrente is only 24-years-old, so he fits in the Everton’s recent philosophy of signing younger players with potential.
he’s not too far from reaching his prime years and still have time to improve.
Lorrente can be signed for around £11.5M, which is significantly less than Diakhaby which makes him a lot more appealing player to sign.
Best Attributes – Natural Fitness (17), Work Rate (16), Bravery (15), Balance (15), Pace (15).
Wage: £28K p/w
Expected transfer cost: £11.5M.
Expected wage cost: £60k p/w with additional bonuses and clauses.
