Crystal Palace has truly cemented their position as a regular Premier League team, with the 2018/19 season being their 6th consecutive year in the top flight.
Their recruitment in recent years has been fairly poor and they have wasted quite a lot of money on players not good enough for the Premier League.
Crystal Palace is a club without any real aspirations other than staying in the Premier League.
However, This season the board are expecting the club to finish mid-table, which should be achievable given the amount of quality in the team.
Transfer & Wage budget
Transfer budget: £6.5M
Wage Budget: £1.69M p/w (£41K p/w remaining)
Crystal Palace has a very low transfer budget, especially for a team trying to achieve a mid-table finish.
They have a remaining budget of £6.5M, after spending money on only one signing this season (Cheikhou Kouyaté for £9.5M).
They have also filled their 2 available loans for this season, with the signings of Michy Batshuayi and Jordan Ayew, both of which are on season-long loans from Chelsea and Swansea respectively.
Crystal Palace has a few senior players in their team which you should look to utilize if you want the team to be successful.
Wilfried Zaha – (CA 157 – PA 160)
Wilfried Zaha re-joined Crystal Palace from Manchester United in 2014/15 for around £7M.
Since re-joining Zaha has been the best player in the Crystal Palace team, he’s become Palace’s Talisman with the team struggling to win when he’s not playing.
Zaha is excellent on the ball with bags of pace and flair, thanks to his good technical and physical attributes.
Zaha is valued at £52M, so it might be tempting to sell him in order to finance rebuilding the squad, however, it would be almost impossible to replace him.
Best Attributes – Dribbling (17), Flair (17), Acceleration (17), Pace (17), Agility (16).
Mamadou Sakho – (CA 144 – PA 154)
Mamadou Sakho signed for Crystal Palace in 2017/18 for a transfer fee of £24M.
Since his arrival, Sahko has played a key role in the Palace defence.
He’s a commanding centre-back, who’s fast and strong with good physical attributes.
Sahko also has good passing attributes, so should be able to pass the ball out comfortably.
Best Attributes – Strength (17), Determination (17), Tackling (16), Anticipation (16), Bravery (16).
Luka Milivojevic – (CA 146 – PA 146)
Luka Milivojevic joined Crystal Palace from Greek team Olympiacos in 2016/17 for £12.5M.
Milivojevic is a tenacious defensive midfielder with good tackling, teamwork and stamina Attributes, he’s also an excellent penalty taker.
His contribution to the team can sometimes go under the radar, but he’s the type of player every team needs to be successful with everyone looking better when he’s on the pitch.
Best Attributes – Penalty Taking (17), Teamwork (17), Natural Fitness (17), Stamina (17), Tackling (16).
Crystal Palace has a few young players in their team, which given enough game time should become very good Premier League players.
Maximilian Meyer – (CA 144 – PA 164)
Meyer is a new signing for Crystal Palace, joining on a free transfer after his contract expired with Schalke 04.
He’s already on a big contract of £125K p/w and is considered an important member of the team.
Being only 22-years-old, he still has a few years before he reaches his prime and with a potential of 164, he’s a very exciting player.
Best Attributes – First Touch (18), Technique (18), Agility (17), Composure (15), Vision (15).
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – (CA 134 – PA 140)
Wan-Bissaka is a player who has come through the Crystal Palace youth team and at 20-years-old is already their best right-back.
He’s a tall, strong in the tackle, quick wing-back, who likes to get forward whenever possible.
There are already clubs lining up to sign him, however, with 4 years left on his current contract, you should keep him and develop him into one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.
Best Attributes – Tackling (16), Determination (15), Acceleration (15), Pace (15), Dribbling (14).
Jairo Riedewald – (CA 126 – PA 149)
Riedewald signed for Crystal Palace in 2017/18 from Ajax for a transfer fee of £7.5M.
He’s currently the Holland under-21 captain and is a young prospect who isn’t far from the Crystal Palace first team.
he’s a big strong defensive midfielder, who can also play as a central defender or left-sided full-back.
Riedewald has a potential ability of 149 and will become a key part of the palace team within a season or two.
Riedewald is another young player Crystal Palace have who’s in their senior squad.
Best Attributes – Passing (15), Vision (15), Positioning (14), Teamwork (14), Balance (14).
Players to consider selling
Julian Speroni – (CA 115 – PA 133)
Julian Speroni is now 39 years old and is the third choice goalkeeper for Crystal Palace, behind Hennessey and Guaita.
The Veteran Keeper is out of contract at the end of the season so although you might not be able to sell him, you should decide against offering a new contract.
He may decide to retire anyway, so it could be worth signing Speroni as a coach or member of the background team.
Wage: £25K p/w
Expected transfer value: £0
Joel Ward – (CA 127 – PA 136)
Joel Ward is a victim of the recent emergence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and now finds himself fighting for the back-up position with Martin Kelly.
It’s a tight call on who would be best to sell between Ward and Kelly, but we would suggest selling Ward as he’s worth at a lot more money, so therefore you should get a bigger transfer fee.
Wage: £25K p/w
Expected Transfer Value: £10M
Connor Wickham – (CA 124 – PA 140)
Connor Wickham joined Palace in 2015/16 for £7M and has been disappointing, to say the least.
He’s scored just 7 Premier League goals since his arrival at Palace and should now be considered surplus to requirements.
Wickham is worth £11M, so if you can sell him for anywhere near his valuation, you could put the money towards another striker.
Wage: £60K p/w
Expected transfer value: £5M+
Players to consider signing
Crystal Palace is in a need of a new Striker who can really help the team progress and stop relying on Wilfried Zaha.
There are a couple of different options available.
Neal Maupay – (CA 128 – PA 141)
Maupay has been excellent for Brentford this season and is ready for a chance in the Premier League.
He’s a different Striker to what Palace currently have being a very hardworking Forward with determination to succeed.
At only 21-years-old and is likely to continue improving, especially if given the opportunity to play first-team football in the Premier League.
He is available for around £6M, with an additional clause of 20% of the profit from next sale.
Best Attributes – Aggression (17), Bravery (17), Work Rate (16), Determination (15), Balance (15).
Wage: £12K p/w
Expected transfer cost: £6M plus additional clauses
Expected wage: £20K p/w with additional bonuses and clauses.
Josip Drmic – (CA 127 – PA 143)
Josip Drmic is another option for a forward to sign, he’s currently playing for Bundesliga side Borussia Borussia Mönchengladbach.
He’s a decent forward with good all-around attributes.
Drmic is out of contract in 2019, so you could sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January, however, he would be available to sign right away for as little as £2.8M, which is a steal for the quality of player he is.
Best Attributes – Finishing (15), Flair (15), Acceleration (15), Agility (15), Pace (14).
Wage: £43K p/w
Expected transfer cost: £3M
Expected Wage: £20K p/w + Bonuses and Clauses
Jean-Kévin Augustin – (CA 134 – PA 161)
Jean-Kévin Augustin would be another good option, he’s a little more expensive but would be more capable of making an impact in the first team from the straightaway.
Augustin is a very fast striker who can also play out wide.
The 21-year-old Striker is only a squad player at RB Leipzig, therefore, would be available for transfer without a huge transfer fee.
with a potential ability of 161, Augustin has the potential to be even better than Zaha, so would represent a good investment in a young player who is only going to improve.
Best Attributes – Acceleration (17), Pace (17), First Touch (15), Agility (15), Natural Fitness (15).
Wage: £68K p/w
Expected Transfer fee: £7.5M
Expected Wage: £44K p/w plus bonuses and clauses.
